Summer time loves

I have been dreaming of hot summer days, the smell of sunscreen, sand on my feet and splashing with my daughter in the sea. Why does every winter seem the longest?  I had to share with you all this fantastic photo of my husband Mark. It was taken in the summer of 1980 at Motunau north of Christchurch. Mark was the reigning champion of the " Mr Muscle" competition, three years in a row. Summer cant get here fast enough.

Nursery loves

I have been looking for ideas to update my daughter, Lilla's room.  Its such a hard decision to make as I want the room to be beautiful and fun but not too girly.  I think children's rooms are very important they need to be engaging and fun.  They also need to last, so you have to be careful that you don't make them to babyish.  By choosing fabrics that are not typically seen in nurseries or children's rooms makes them seem more sophisticated and will last them well.
I think the best way is to choose a starting point, be it fabric or an art print makes making decisions on other items easier.
There are so many beautiful options, here are a few I love. xo

Love the Eames rocker

Gweneth Paltrows daughter, Apples room.

Loving the turquoise bed head

Coulda shoulda woulda

It seems everyone around me is either getting married, engaged or having a baby! As I have done all three it makes me think about what I would have done differently. I have concluded I wouldn't change anything but....... My wedding shoes and wearing a birdcage veil. At the time I loved my shoes and my long traditional veil but times have changed and in the past three years wedding couture has gotten better and better. So all in all some minor changes would be made. Here is what I would have worn.

Anna Spiro

One of my favorite interior designers is Australian Anna Spiro. I have admired her work for a while now she has inspired me to be brave with colour.  She manages to design clean spaces with touches of bright beautiful colour. I am totally in love with the striped sofa with hot pink feet in her bedroom it goes beautifully with the silk drapes.

Anna owns a store in Brisbane called Black and Sprio. I will be going to visit in August, so excited. I can't wait to let you know if the store lives up to my expectations, I'm positive it will.

Say it with me, "Be brave with colour".
Here are a few images of her stunning home, which I have to say is one of my all time favorites.

Laundry room loves

This morning I looked at my pile of laundry and thought "If only I had a more organized beautiful room I wouldn't mind doing my laundry!"  You spend so much time doing washing, ironing (if you're good) etc that you should make the room one you like being in. Here are a few images of what beautiful laundry rooms can look like. Happy washing

Caitlin Moran

Interior designer Caitlin Moran who "Balances a certain timeless grace with an unquestionably modern sensibility".  I love the way she manages to mix colours and textures. I think sometimes we feel you have to choose?  Caitlin shows us you can mix and still maintain a space that is tied in and unique.  I love the monogramed chair! x
