Martha Stewart here I come..

I have been on a wee mission to get my house organized. Since having my daughter I have let a few things go. Before she was born the house was immaculate but in the past year and a half things have changed! But no more. I started organizing one room or one cupboard per day, and Im making some serious progress. I bought 5 large plastic bins, I know not exactly stylish but are perfect for people with a lack of storage, and once in a cupboard no one will see. Lillas cupboard has two bins one for soft toys and one for clothes she has grown out off.  In our linen cupboard we have 3 bins for craft supplies, fabric and large dishes that wont fit in our kitchen. I have been ruthless, and I am already feeling lighter.  I love Martha Stewart and often browse her website. Here is her beautifully organized craft room.
A girl can dream..

Home office love

My home office is tucked in the corner of our spare bedroom, but I dream of having something more inspiring.  I think one of the keys to having a functioning home office is definitely to be organized and to surround yourself with things you love (that part I have).  To add to the list of things I want is a new desk chair.  I will go for something vintage that I can re-upholster. So trademe, garage sales, secondhand shops here I come..

I missed you..

Hi everyone sorry about my lack of posts of late..

I have been on a beautiful family holiday in the Gold Coast, Australia. We had such a fantastic time. I am going to miss sunshine, hot days, the beach (all being winter, or what they call winter!), and brilliant shopping. Most of all I will miss having Mark with Lilla and I all day! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I have some fun things to post, so come back soon.

Trademe

Hi everyone. I thought I would show you a picture of the cute marble table I recently bought on trademe.  I bought it for 30NZD which I thought was a good buy, considering its in perfect condition and its marble. My wee table hasn't yet found its home in my house yet, but It will.. I love it!

Please excuse my styling in a bit of a rush! Will post more pictures once the table has found a proper home.  And yes that is mint i'm afraid thats all my poor wee garden has at the moment. Note to self: Don't post pictures while packing for an overseas trip and looking after a sick child.

Subway tiles

love subway tiles.  I cant wait to decorate my next bathroom with these.  Plain white or coloured subway tiles can complement classic or modern design they make such a statement. They can be used in your bathrrom, kitchen, shower or around a fireplace, which is what I am thinking of doing in our house (will post pictures once I have chosen my tiles).

Quaint or Chic

Hi everyone. Do you ever find yourself stuck between two styles?? When I was younger I loved the whole 'shabby chic' look and as I'm getting older my style has done a complete 180. I would love to own lots of houses and decorate them in all the styles I love, a girl can dream right? Have you seen the movie The Holiday? staring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet? If you have what house did you prefer? The uber chic LA house of Cameron's character Amanda? Or the quaint English stone cottage of Kate's character Iris? I personally love both. I want a romantic holiday in England but to live in the LA house, with a few minor adjustments.  Both are equally beautiful. What do you think?

Does this not make you want a bath??
Love the cabinets. Imagine a bathroom big enough to fit them!
Love the ottoman coffee table.

I want to curl up in this bed! so cozy!

Summer time loves

I have been dreaming of hot summer days, the smell of sunscreen, sand on my feet and splashing with my daughter in the sea. Why does every winter seem the longest?  I had to share with you all this fantastic photo of my husband Mark. It was taken in the summer of 1980 at Motunau north of Christchurch. Mark was the reigning champion of the " Mr Muscle" competition, three years in a row. Summer cant get here fast enough.

Nursery loves

I have been looking for ideas to update my daughter, Lilla's room.  Its such a hard decision to make as I want the room to be beautiful and fun but not too girly.  I think children's rooms are very important they need to be engaging and fun.  They also need to last, so you have to be careful that you don't make them to babyish.  By choosing fabrics that are not typically seen in nurseries or children's rooms makes them seem more sophisticated and will last them well.
I think the best way is to choose a starting point, be it fabric or an art print makes making decisions on other items easier.
There are so many beautiful options, here are a few I love. xo

Coulda shoulda woulda

It seems everyone around me is either getting married, engaged or having a baby! As I have done all three it makes me think about what I would have done differently. I have concluded I wouldn't change anything but....... My wedding shoes and wearing a birdcage veil. At the time I loved my shoes and my long traditional veil but times have changed and in the past three years wedding couture has gotten better and better. So all in all some minor changes would be made. Here is what I would have worn.

Anna Spiro

One of my favorite interior designers is Australian Anna Spiro. I have admired her work for a while now she has inspired me to be brave with colour.  She manages to design clean spaces with touches of bright beautiful colour. I am totally in love with the striped sofa with hot pink feet in her bedroom it goes beautifully with the silk drapes.

Anna owns a store in Brisbane called Black and Sprio. I will be going to visit in August, so excited. I can't wait to let you know if the store lives up to my expectations, I'm positive it will.

Say it with me, "Be brave with colour".
Here are a few images of her stunning home, which I have to say is one of my all time favorites.

Laundry room loves

This morning I looked at my pile of laundry and thought "If only I had a more organized beautiful room I wouldn't mind doing my laundry!"  You spend so much time doing washing, ironing (if you're good) etc that you should make the room one you like being in. Here are a few images of what beautiful laundry rooms can look like. Happy washing

Caitlin Moran

Interior designer Caitlin Moran who "Balances a certain timeless grace with an unquestionably modern sensibility".  I love the way she manages to mix colours and textures. I think sometimes we feel you have to choose?  Caitlin shows us you can mix and still maintain a space that is tied in and unique.  I love the monogramed chair! x
